Schema & structured data

Tell search engines exactly what your pages are.

Structured data is a label for your content that machines can read. Done properly, it helps search engines and AI systems understand you, and makes richer results possible.

Pick a type

The right markup for each page.

Different pages need different labels. Here’s what each common type is for.

What it tells search engines

  • Your name, logo and website
  • Your official profiles
  • How to contact you

Where I use it

  • Your home page and About page
  • One consistent entity across the site
  • Alongside your Knowledge Panel work

The honest bit

Eligible is not guaranteed.

Markup has to describe what’s genuinely on the page. Marking up things visitors can’t see, or inflating ratings, risks a penalty, so I don’t.

Schema questions

What structured data can and can’t do.

The short answer from Syed Hadi Hussain

What is schema markup?

Schema markup is structured data added to a page that labels what it contains, such as a business, product, review, event or FAQ. It helps search engines and AI systems understand the page and can qualify it for richer results.

Will schema improve my rankings?

Not directly. It helps search engines understand your pages and can make them eligible for richer results, which can lift clicks. It doesn’t replace good content.

Is a rich result guaranteed?

No. Google decides whether to show one. Correct markup makes you eligible, and I test that it passes Google’s tools.

Do FAQ rich results still appear?

Google now shows them for only a limited set of sites. I still use FAQ markup where it helps clarity, but I never promise the visible result.

Should I use a plugin or custom code?

Plugins are fine for basics. Custom, well-tested markup is better for complex sites. I tell you which fits yours.

How do you check it’s right?

Google’s Rich Results Test and the Schema Markup Validator, plus a check that the markup matches what’s visible on the page.
