Site architecture

Wire your site so every page pulls its weight.

Your best pages need to be easy to find, for shoppers and for Google. I plan the structure, the links and the addresses so authority flows where it earns.

Addresses

Addresses that say what the page is.

A clean address helps readers trust a link and helps search engines understand the page. Toggle to see the difference.

Three layers of links

Where internal links come from.

  • 01

    Navigation

Your menu points at the pages that matter most. Every item is a vote, so I keep it short and deliberate.

  • 02

    In the content

Links inside articles and descriptions are the strongest signals, because the surrounding words explain the destination.

  • 03

    Related and breadcrumbs

Related items and breadcrumbs keep readers moving and give Google a clear picture of where each page sits.

Structure questions

How a site should be organised.

The short answer from Syed Hadi Hussain

What is site architecture in SEO?

Site architecture is how your pages are organised and linked. A clear structure with sensible internal links helps visitors find what they need and helps search engines understand which pages matter most and how they relate.

01How many links should a page have?

There’s no magic number. Each page should link to the pages a reader would naturally want next, using clear wording, and every page worth ranking should be linked from somewhere sensible.

02Should I change my URLs?

Only when the gain is clear, because changing addresses carries risk. If URLs are confusing or inconsistent, I’ll plan a safe change with redirects.

03What’s a topic cluster?

A main page on a broad subject, linked with supporting pages on narrower questions. It shows search engines, and readers, that you cover a subject properly.

04Does menu design affect SEO?

Yes, because navigation is made of internal links. A clear menu helps people and passes weight to your most important pages.

05How do you find orphan pages?

By comparing a full crawl against your sitemap and analytics. Anything that exists but isn’t linked from the site shows up.
